Jay Rockefeller, U.S. Senate
In
the coming months I will be asking the voters of West Virginia to
return me to the United States Senate in 2008 so that I can continue
fighting for them in Washington – for affordable health care; energy
independence; a stronger, smarter national defense; promises kept
to our veterans and our seniors; and the quality education and good
paying jobs that allow West Virginians to stay and raise their families
in our state. Jay Rockefeller is a devoted husband, father and
grandfather. He and his wife Sharon Percy Rockefeller celebrated their
40th wedding anniversary in 2007 and enjoy frequent family gatherings
with their four children – John, Valerie, Charles, and Justin – and
five grandchildren. I hope you will join me in my quest for a fifth
term in the United States Senate. Please sign up for the Friends
of Jay Rockefeller email list web@jay08.com so that we can stay in
touch about the critical issues facing our country, what I'm working
on in the Senate, and how you might participate.
Anne
Barth, U.S. Congress
Anne Barth, who has run Senator Robert Byrd's
West Virginia office for about two decades, filed to run for the United
States House of Representatives in the 2nd Congressional District.
Anne, a Democrat, has long been active in the West Virginia Democratic
Party. Ms. Barth has not only run Senator Byrd's state office,
but she's managed his campaigns during the last few elections. Many
Democrats consider her a strong candidate because of her connections
with state and national Party leaders. She resigned from her job with
Senator Byrd and will campaign full time for the 2nd Congressional
seat. "Public service is my calling in life. Following the examples
of my father, a retired Methodist minister, and my mentor Senator
Robert C. Byrd, I have always welcomed any new opportunity to serve
my community, my state and my country. I intend to seek the Democratic
nomination for the 2nd Congressional seat because I believe America
is ready for positive change, and I believe that a united Congressional
delegation can help West Virginia put its best foot forward." May
12, 1:00 p.m., Berkeley County Democratic HQ, 124 South Queen St.,
Martinsburg. Anne and Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the DCCC, (D)
Md. 8th, Montgomery County. Sponsored by Eastern Panhandle Central
Labor Council, discussion on labor issues. Contact John Fink at 283-5800
for more details.
